Europe, Up Close — and Further

A small-ship way to explore beyond Europe’s rivers

Monark Turismo

Europe reveals itself most beautifully when travel feels unhurried and close to the places that matter — historic cities, everyday neighborhoods, and landscapes shaped by centuries of life along the water.

While rivers offer an intimate way to discover the continent’s heart, Europe’s story continues well beyond the riverbanks. Coastlines, islands, and harbor cities add new texture to familiar regions, especially when explored at a smaller scale. This is Europe, experienced seamlessly — close, immersive, and open to more.

Europe, Year-Round

From the glow of winter light in the Mediterranean to the long summer evenings of Northern Europe, Europe rewards travelers in every season. Fewer crowds, deeper cultural access, and a pace that invites lingering moments make year-round exploration especially compelling.

Small ships unlock this rhythm, allowing travelers to arrive directly into city centers, stay later into the evening, and experience destinations when they feel most authentic.

Beyond the Rivers, Naturally

For travelers who appreciate river cruising’s intimacy and ease, exploring beyond the rivers feels like a natural extension — not a departure.

Small-ship coastal sailing connects inland favorites with seaside towns, islands, and regions shaped by the sea, all while preserving what matters most: thoughtful pacing, meaningful time ashore, and access that keeps you close to the experience rather than observing it from afar.

Europe, Up Close — and Further

A year-round way to experience Europe beyond the rivers — with the same intimacy, access, and thoughtful pacing that make the journey feel effortless.

Introducing the Star Explorer
A Small Ship Designed for Europe

Star Explorer was created to support this style of exploration. Carrying just 224 guests, she sails into river ports and city centers like London on the Thames, Bordeaux, Rouen, and Caen, while also navigating narrow harbors and scenic coastlines larger ships can’t reach. Longer stays and overnights allow destinations to unfold naturally — from Northern Europe and the British Isles to France, Northern Spain, and Portugal.

On board, the experience is relaxed and refined, with 112 spacious suites — many with full verandas or infinity windows — including two Horizon Owner’s Suites with wraparound balconies. Windstar favorites like the Yacht Club Café, the signature Marina with watersports, the World Spa by Windstar, and a famously welcoming crew create an atmosphere that feels effortless from day to day.

Recommended Itineraries

Star Explorer’s itineraries are shaped around access, immersion, and connection — linking river cities with coastal and island destinations in ways larger ships simply can’t.
