A more refined way to experience Europe’s most iconic coastlines

From mountainous Montenegro and eternally sunny Malta to civilization-shaping Greece and Italy, Europe and the Mediterranean pack a mighty punch when it comes to history, culture and nature. This is a tightly woven patchwork of languages and traditions, a lip-smacking larder of the most famous cuisines, a well-stocked cellar of the world’s finest wines. Not to mention the archaeological sites, Renaissance masterpieces, and architectural gems. One of the easiest – and most comfortable – ways to get under the skin of this incredibly diverse region is on a luxury Mediterranean cruise with Crystal, whose thoughtfully curated itineraries are designed to ensure fewer repeating ports and more overnights for deeper discovery.
I have included some information below to inspire your Mediterranean planning, including a limited-time offer.

The wonders of Portugal, Morocco, and Spain serve as a backdrop for this specially curated wellness voyage which will feature Sanctum, a music-led mindful movement practice. Embrace the buzz of dynamic Lisbon before it gives way to the glorious beaches and superb food of Portimão. We dip down to North Africa next, browsing for souvenirs in the souks of Casablanca and Agadir, and then cross over to the Canary Islands, calling at Arrecife on Lanzarote to enjoy its lunar-like landscapes, black-sand beaches, and volcanic wines. A day at sea follows, offering a chance to relax and make the most of life on board, before we return to Lisbon, our journey’s end.

We’re putting the spotlight on Spain for this delightful springtime voyage, which begins with a sea day so you can get comfortable and settle into life onboard. Gibraltar is our first call; this British Oversees Territory sees more than 300 days of sunshine a year and has a proud military history, which you can learn about in its World War II tunnels and various memorials. Then it’s on to Motril, our first stop in Spain, for lovely beaches or a trip to marvel at Granada’s famed Alhambra. We travel along the beautiful coastline to dynamic Alicante, Valencia, the birthplace of paella, and picturesque Mahón on the island of Menorca, with its historic cobbled center. Finally, we arrive in the Spanish capital, Barcelona, where majestic architecture, designer shopping, and a world-leading food scene await your discovery.

Sunglasses at the ready – this southern sailing calls at some of the most glamorous destinations in the Med. Leaving the art galleries and tapas bars of Barcelona behind, a day at sea lets us settle into life onboard before we arrive at Saint Tropez, a name instantly associated with French style. The chic waterfront bars and restaurants make for excellent people-watching, not to mention serving delicious food. Then it’s on to even glitzier shores, with a stop in Monte Carlo – admire the superyachts in the marina and don’t forget to have a flutter in the legendary casino. The birthplace of Napoleon, Ajaccio in Corsica, is next, with history galore and beautiful beaches. Then we travel to Italy, and the storied town of Portofino, whose colorful houses seem to cling to the cliffside above an impossibly blue sea. Livorno, the gateway to Tuscany, offers more of la dolce vita before we arrive in Civitavecchia, with all the splendors of Rome right on its doorstep.

From Rome, we sail down one of the world’s most scenic coastlines to Amalfi, a pretty, lemon-scented town dramatically set between the sparkling sea and the towering mountains. Relax onboard for a day as we sail next to Croatia for red-roofed Dubrovnik, where you can lose yourself in its labyrinthine limestone streets or dive straight into the sparkling waters of the Adriatic from a cliffside bar. Then we cross into Montenegro to admire the medieval walled town of Kotor, which overlooks a beautiful sheltered bay, and on to Corfu, Greece, with its glorious sandy beaches and UNESCO-listed Old Town, which bears the influence of the island’s Venetian, English, and French rule over the centuries. The Baroque architecture and bustling seafood markets of the Sicilian city of Catania call, before we arrive in Valetta, the cinematic Maltese capital, built by the Knights of St John in the 1500s andreputed to be the sunniest city in Europe.
