As your travel advisor, I’m always looking for ways to help you engage more deeply with the places you visit. Aboard the National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions fleet, one meaningful way to do that is through the shipboard Global Galleries—thoughtfully curated markets that showcase handcrafted jewelry, textiles, ceramics and other artisan-made works sourced from around the world.
These pieces are more than souvenirs. A portion of proceeds from every purchase supports Lindblad Expeditions’ Artisan Fund, launched in 2007 to empower local artisans by providing training programs, workspaces, equipment and educational opportunities. The model creates a renewable cycle of support and connects you more deeply to the creative traditions of the destinations you explore, and beyond.
On select expeditions, such as voyages in the Galápagos and the Amazon, you may also have opportunities to meet some of the artisans whose work is featured on board. These encounters offer insight into the creative processes and sustainable practices behind the pieces in the Global Galleries, deepening your understanding of the places you visit and the people who call them home.
