About Emma Camp: Coral Biologist

Dr. Emma Camp is a leading coral biologist, explorer, and ocean advocate focused on how reefs survive extreme conditions. Her work spans remote Pacific reefs, including the Cook Islands and Society Islands—Rarotonga, Aitutaki, Bora Bora, and Moorea—where diverse lagoons and reef systems reveal how temperature, light, and water chemistry shape coral resilience. These regions act as natural laboratories for reef survival. A member of The Explorers Club and a 2026 Explorers Club 50 honoree, Emma leads the Future Reefs Program at the University of Technology Sydney. A National Geographic Explorer and recipient of honors including the UN Young Leader for the Sustainable Development Goals, Rolex Award for Enterprise, and WINGS Women of Discovery Award, she has led 30+ global expeditions. She also co-founded coral restoration initiatives and works with Indo-Pacific communities to protect reefs, translating research into practical conservation solutions.
